What this page covers
SME Cyber Solutions builds AI agents for other businesses -- AI receptionists, lead capture agents, workflow automation and more. We also use AI on our own site, mainly to help triage enquiries before a person reads them. This page explains both: how we handle AI transparency on smecybersolutions.com itself, and the standard we design into every agent we build for a client.
When you're talking to an AI
Under the EU AI Act and UK consumer protection guidance from the Competition and Markets Authority, people are entitled to know when they are interacting with an AI system rather than a person. We treat this as a standing design principle, not something added after the fact. Every AI agent we build that talks to a customer, caller or lead is designed to make that clear at the start of the interaction, unless it is already obvious from the context.
Human oversight
Automation without a way for a person to step in is a liability, not a feature. Every agent we build starts in a supervised mode, where a person reviews its output before anything goes out, and only moves to unsupervised operation once its accuracy has been proven over a sustained period. Agents are designed with escalation built in: if something falls outside what the agent should handle on its own -- an uncertain answer, a genuine emergency, an unusual financial transaction -- it is flagged for a person rather than actioned automatically.
Your data and AI processing
If you contact us directly through smecybersolutions.com, initial triage of your enquiry may be handled by AI to help route it to the right person. No decision with a legal or similarly significant effect on you is ever made solely by AI. Full detail on how we collect, use and protect your data is set out in our Privacy Policy.
If you're a client's customer
Some of our AI agents are built and deployed for our clients' own businesses, answering calls, following up leads or handling admin on their behalf. If you have spoken to one of these agents while contacting one of our clients, that business is the data controller for your information, not SME Cyber Solutions. We act as their data processor, handling data on their instructions and under contract, but the policy that applies to you is theirs. Please contact that business directly with any questions about your data.
